While conventional farm-raised Kanpachi is typically marketed at around 3–4 kg, Akabana is raised to an impressive 7–8 kg class. As Kanpachi matures to this exceptional size, its appearance and eating characteristics develop, creating a premium fish traditionally known in parts of Kyushu as “Akabana.” Japan’s Fisheries Agency also identifies Obama Suisan’s Akabana as a branded 7–8 kg Kanpachi developed for premium markets.
Since 2013, Obama Suisan has established stable production of Akabana using its proprietary “Obama Style” farming method. This unique feeding approach was developed to achieve efficient growth and higher fat content while reducing unnecessary feed, combining premium quality with a more efficient approach to aquaculture.
